Surface
Level 1 to 3
Anywhere, mountain or plain
With Weyland every mob has a level: 1 to 3 on the surface, then it grows block by block. At Y -32 it is already 28.
The nameplate appears when you look at a mob: level, name, health. In the dark you can barely read it. Discover Weyland →
Pillaring up to get away? With Siege, monsters build themselves a dirt tower and reach you. Break it: they build it again.
Mob levels and the truce
Every mob has a level. On the surface it is low; underground it grows block by block.

The deeper the cave, the stronger what lives in it.
Inside hills and mountains the rock above your head counts, measured by MMS when it is installed.

Below the surface levels rise block by block: about 8 at the first mine level, 18 at the second, 28 at the third, 38 at the bottom. A cave inside a mountain is measured by the rock above your head, not by the Y.

Monsters weaker for a while
A mob’s level and health appear for five seconds to whoever looks at it, hits it or is chased by it. Never through walls, and dim in the dark.
Health, damage, armour and speed scale with the level, and so do drops and experience. Equipment only goes into empty slots.
Killed by monsters on the surface? For a while the monsters near you deal less damage and lose their dangerous kinds. It shortens as you play.
